Introducing Our Newest Addition

As Family Farm Grown…grows, we find ourselves wanting to attend more events, meet more people, and introduce them to the wholesome goodness of the Family Farm. Doing this, however, means transporting products, materials, people, etc. So, we needed a vehicle.

While we could have just bought some new, bland crossover, it just didn’t feel right. Our vehicle needed to represent who we are. We’re a unique company with delicious popcorn. We’re a company who puts a spotlight on our farms and farmers. We celebrate the traditions, the history, and the culture of those farmers. With those things in mind, the choice was actually pretty easy…we needed a truck.

But, not just any truck would do. We wanted the iconic American farm truck, and we found a prime example.

The Family Farm Grown truck is a 1948 Chevrolet 3800 Series. Part of the “Advance-Design series,” which was the first major redesign by Chevy after World War II, it was marketed as bigger, stronger, and sleeker than earlier designs. And America loved it.

After spending some time as a small-town fire engine, it has recently been restored to it’s original stake bed glory. A true blast from the past, our truck has the original interior, and is powered by the original 3.5 liter inline six-cylinder engine. It also has a four-speed manual transmission with a non-synchromesh “stump-puller” first gear, which was standard on all 1 ton trucks in 1948.
